What is Oddvent?
Oddvent is an online advent calendar that is found at oddvent.com.
Each day, a new door appears on the website, which can be opened only with a password.
Each day, behind the door, participants will find a tiny work of art. The 24 collaborating artists come from various disciplines : theatre-makers, photographers, musicians etc - and so each day has a completely different flavour.
Oddvent launched last year during lockdown, with the particular aim of reaching out to people in isolation. It reached people all over the world, from Hawaii to the Arctic Circle. We realise, of course, that lots of people are isolated at this time of year - not just because of Covid. The run up to Christmas is jolly, but it can also be lonely.
So, we aim to accompany people throughout advent, with little offerings every day.
The project is not funded or supported by an institution - it is the endeavour of all the artists involved. Any income is spread between us.
We are particularly eager to reach people who are still isolating or isolated. For these people, Oddvent is free. For those who can pay, the price is £12 for the whole 24 days.
